RMC Seismic Suite

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Risk Management Center (RMC) developed a set of toolboxes to help dam and levee safety risk assessors assess the site class, post-process U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) gridded seismic hazard curve datasets, assess embankment dam crest settlement and deformation, and assess liquefaction triggers.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Risk Management Center (RMC) developed the RMC Site Classification Toolbox as part of the RMC Seismic Suite of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to support risk assessments for dam and levee safety. The spreadsheet tools contained in this toolbox assess the site class using the seismic site classification procedure of ASCE 7 based on the upper 100 feet of the site profile.

 

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Risk Management Center (RMC) developed the RMC Seismic Hazard Curves Toolbox as part of the RMC Seismic Suite of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to support risk assessments for dam and levee safety. The spreadsheet tools contained in this toolbox post-process the gridded seismic hazard curve datasets from the USGS, for the conterminous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and Northern Marianas Islands, and American Samoa and Neighboring South Pacific Islands sesimic hazard models, that describe the annual frequency of exceeding a set of ground motions for a range of spectral accelerations and PGA adjusted for NEHRP site class effects.

 

The RMC Crest Deformation Toolbox is in development and will be available for release in September 2021.

 

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Risk Management Center (RMC) developed the RMC Empirical Crest Deformation Toolbox as part of the RMC Seismic Suite of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to support risk assessments for dam safety. The spreadsheet tools contained in this toolbox assess the amount of settlement and deformation of embankment dams caused by earthquakes based on statistical analysis of empirical data from Swaisgood (2014). A searchable incident database of earthquake-induced deformation of embankment dams is also included.
